Past Activities in 2016

GREAT GATSBY FESTIVAL was held on Aug. 13 and 14 at the Tallac National Historical Site in South Lake Tahoe. This is a 20's - 30's Era Car Show and Period Costume Benefit event for the Tahoe Heritage Foundation. The Site is located in South Lake Tahoe, California. Off HWY 89 near Camp Richardson. The NCDBS was represented by Bob and Timber Vincent, Donn Marinovich and Sherrin Grout, Elaine Gong, Herman and Barbara Boone and Lynne, Leah and Roger Gong. From all reports from the THF, this was a banner year for attendance.

THE DANVILLE 4TH OF JULY PARADE was held on the Monday, 4th of July. There was a NCDBS mini-meet and pot-luck following the parade. The headquarters as usual was in Alamo. We mustered at about 7:30 with vehicles ready to go and held our normal Drivers and Navigators meeting and were on the road by 7:45 where we finally grouped together at the local High School to decorate our cars with bunting and streamers and flags. We had nine DB's joining in the festivities this year and had a grand time even though our entry number was 246.

THE 2016 DODGE BROTHERS INTERNATIONAL MEET was held June 19th - June 24, 2016.

This is a week long Meet and Tours was based out of Budd Lake, New Jersey.

THE MOTHER LODE ROUND UP PARADE
This parade was held in the city of Sonora on May 7, 2016. It is a parade only event. Everyone was invited to hostess Sherrin Grouts build your own breakfast burrito beginning at 7:00 a.m. From that point on, Host Donn Marinovich will led the contingent of vehicles down to the Sonora Lumber Yard for staging and awaiting entry into the parade route. Following the parade, there was a build your own sandwich luncheon hosted by Sherrin. This parade is sponsored by the Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters but you do not need to own a DB to participate. If you have a classic vehicle no matter what the marque, you are welcome to parade with the NCDBS.

THE LAZY RIVER TOUR VIII The annual Lazy River Tour was held on April 23 and April 24, headquartered in West Sacramento. This year was the largest Lazy River Tour we have ever had. By Saturday morning, there were 27 vehicles on the grounds, although only 24 cars rolled out for the Tour. We traveled 45 miles one way on the levee roads to visit the Dutra Museum of Dredging in Rio Vista. This was a wonderful venue since we encountered California Delta history. This company was founded in 1887 and was and still is responsible for dredging the waterways of the Sacramento and tributaries to maintain depth and flood control. A group luncheon on the Sacramento River front was held following the museum tour and then it was back to headquarters. There we conducted our Great American White Elephant Give Away where participants donated unwanted items to be selected at random to be carted away as treasures by others. Then it was off to the camaraderie dinner to finish up the day.

On Sunday, we traveled to the Crocker Museum in Sacramento. There we visited the Andy Warhol exhibit and other treasures of the museum. We found that the artist Ai Wei had the 1,600 pound bronze heads of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals also on exhibit. 7 original heads were found following WWII and 5 are still missing. Following lunch at the museum, we headed out to Raley Field, a minor league baseball stadium which is a farm team of the San Francisco Giants. We were given a tour of the stadium and other information regarding the stadium itself. Then we headed out to headquarters to load up and say our goodbyes for another year and another successful tour.

ANNUAL KICK-OFF AND POTLUCK PICNIC MEET The Annual Kick-Off and Potluck Meeting was held on March 20, 2016 at the Amador Valley Community Park in Pleasanton, Calif. The Park is located off Santa Rita Road at 4455 Black Road. We meet at the South West corner of the park behind the Swim Center. When most of us arrived, the area where we usually meet was crowded and almost every table was taken by other picnic'ers. It was overcast and began to rain at 1:00 p.m. The entire crowd (with the exception of the NCDBS group) vacated the area within 5 minutes - leaving us all alone for our gathering. In attendance were Tom and Sharon Barham, Jennifer Barham, Travis and Julie Barham, Allison and Tyler Barham, Herman and Barbara Boone, Lynne and Roger Gong, Elaine Gong, Donn Marinovich, Sherrin Grout, Jim and Francine Reid, Marissa Reid, Frank and Diana Squire, Bob and Timber Vincent, Carlos Santana and the Jackson Five. TURLOCK WINTER SWAP MEET The TURLOCK (Winter) SWAP MEET Jan. 30th and 31st 2016 at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock, CA. Fulkerth Avenue and Golden Gate Blvd. The Northern California Dodge Brothers and Sisters will occupy Spaces #41 and 42 in the paved area Row J. This was a fairly decent day with the weather cooperating this year. Many patrons stopped by to inquire about the NCDBS and many also examined Herman Boone's 1936 DB transport hauler.
